1 The Lord is king: let the earth rejoice; ♦︎
let the multitude of the isles be glad.
2 Clouds and darkness are round about him; ♦︎
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him ♦︎
and burns up his enemies on every side.
4 His lightnings lit up the world; ♦︎
the earth saw it and trembled.
5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, ♦︎
at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6 The heavens declared his righteousness, ♦︎
and all the peoples have seen his glory.
7 Confounded be all who worship carved images
and delight in mere idols. ♦︎
Bow down before him, all you gods.
8 Zion heard and was glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoiced, ♦︎
because of your judgements, O Lord.
9 For you, Lord, are most high over all the earth; ♦︎
you are exalted far above all gods.
10 The Lord loves those who hate evil; ♦︎
he preserves the lives of his faithful
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light has sprung up for the righteous ♦︎
and joy for the true of heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, ♦︎
and give thanks to his holy name.

6In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple.
2Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.
3And one called to another and said:
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory.
4The pivots* on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke.
5And I said: Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!
6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7The seraph* touched my mouth with it and said: Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out. 8Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? And I said, Here am I; send me!

5Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ* has been born of God, and everyone who loves the parent loves the child. 2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, 4for whatever is born of God conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith. 5Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only but with the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one that testifies, for the Spirit is the truth. 7There are three that testify:* 8the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three agree. 9If we receive human testimony, the testimony of God is greater; for this is the testimony of God that he has testified to his Son. 10Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony in their hearts. Those who do not believe in God* have made him a liar by not believing in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
